Inside Wolters Kluwer's journey to data intelligence

Wolters Kluwer, a 127-year-old company with 10,000+ employees, struggled to derive insights from data spread across duplicative, fragmented systems, and its CT Corporation division (Governance, Regulatory and Compliance) needed to transform a redundant enterprise, future-proof its products and data, and govern the process. Under Director of Data Management John Lieto, CT Corporation adopted Collibra to build an enterprise data layer serving operational, analytical, and AI applications, starting with a business glossary and a cross-functional Data Governance Council, taking a "democratized, non-invasive approach to data governance." Lieto stressed embracing new technology and staying "in line with your stakeholders," with success tracked through data-asset understanding, report quality ratings, data lineage mapping, and retiring redundant systems via APIs with minimal rework.

Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.
