McDonald's + Collibra: AI Transformation Story
McDonald's needed to secure and responsibly manage its data as a pillar of its "Accelerating the Arches" strategy while pursuing GenAI use cases. It partnered with Collibra, branding the platform internally as "Runway," and stood up a foundational operating model in 60 days built on a six-pillar framework (including cataloging, data quality, and AI governance) across 95 markets, using Collibra Rapid Start and Collibra AI Governance to support initiatives like connected kitchens and predictive analytics. Per Data Governance Manager Ashley Clark, the effort brought "fewer manual reviews and reduced risk of inconsistent data," leading to "faster decision making," along with improved transparency and trust in data globally.
Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.
This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
