AXA XL builds a data culture through governance

AXA XL (5,000+ employees) needed business users to more easily find, trust, and use data amid GDPR compliance pressure and a push toward self-service analytics. In March 2018 it implemented Collibra's cloud-based governance product to build a Data Governance Center of Excellence combining a Data Catalog, Business Glossary, and data-quality scores into a "one-stop shop" showing lineage, definitions, quality scores, ownership, and privacy levels. Senior lead Ashish Haruray said Collibra "has played an important role in our journey to build data transparency," eliminating the need for a middleman; the company also planned further work on automated data-quality integration and role-based access control. No specific numerical metrics were given.

Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.

This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
