Euroclear Reduces Duplicate Data Spending

Euroclear, which managed nearly €33 trillion in client assets as of 2020, cited Harvard Business Review estimates that flawed data costs U.S. businesses $3 trillion a year and that knowledge workers waste half their time hunting for data; CDO Pierre Delville identified duplicate-data handling as "the largest single item in the cost of our data." Euroclear cataloged its two-million-row securities database, clarified master data sources, and used Collibra to implement data-sharing agreements that eliminated duplication, extending governance to support functions and sales/product teams with standardized naming and centralized documentation. One year after go-live, 5 to 10% of staff were already active users, with the company treating governed, non-duplicated data as the new "business as usual."

Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.

This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
