Engie targets carbon neutrality with data governance strategy

EngieDesign & Stress-TestCollibra

Engie, a €60 billion French energy company with 50,000+ employees across 70 countries, had data siloed across newly reorganized enterprise divisions and needed real-time access to support its carbon-neutrality push and renewable-energy operations, per Group Chief Analytics Officer Thierry Grima ("Data does not like silos, it wants to mix with other bits of information"). It built a Common Data Hub on AWS and integrated Collibra's Data Catalog, Data Governance, and Data Lineage modules, connecting to SAP ERP (with Salesforce planned), working with Collibra professional services and the Lamarck Group. The platform is used across 25+ local projects and feeds a Global Performance Cockpit of executive KPIs; Grima said it would "save time and money by how it improves the way we share data" and called it foundational to a "new philosophy" of governance at Engie.

Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.

This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
