DNB drives digital transformation through people, process and technology
DNB, Norway's largest bank, was struggling with more than 900 data silos that fragmented customer records and created technical debt hampering compliance with BCBS 239 and GDPR ("It's a nightmare when you have all of that technical debt," said the CDO). It pursued a people-process-technology strategy, adopting Collibra for cataloging, governance, and compliance alongside AWS data-science tools and a digital capture solution, favoring federated, business-led stewardship over central control. Business analysts had previously spent 80% of their time cleaning data versus 20% analyzing, a ratio the bank aimed to reverse; DNB also built a churn-prediction algorithm to aid retention and cross-selling, and created a new GDPR-compliant benchmark-report service using aggregated retail payment data for corporate customers.
Collibra is a data-governance and catalog platform used to keep data trustworthy, traceable and compliant enough to support an AI initiative.
This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
