Intelligent workflow case study
Roper Radiologists PA faced workflow problems including inefficient study distribution, work-life-balance strain, poor sub-specialist optimization, and a legacy PACS worklist with limited visibility into urgent cases and no sophisticated analytics. The practice implemented Change Healthcare Workflow Intelligence, a rules engine that assigns studies priority levels (1–99) and routes them with real-time reprioritization and escalation tracking, analyzing turnaround times (TAT) by percentile rather than average. Results included a "56%" reduction in ED studies read after 45 minutes, a "75-minute" improvement in TAT for outlier studies in the ICU, a "50%" reduction in ICU studies read after 60 minutes, and a "26%" reduction in work performed by radiologists after 5 p.m., with ED and ICU outlier turnaround times also improving substantially.
