A retrospective electronic health record-derived study supporting the accelerated approval of a new drug for mantle cell lymphoma in the U.S.
Eli Lilly researchers, led by Dr. Lisa Hess, analyzed de-identified Flatiron EHR data to understand treatment patterns after covalent BTKi therapy in mantle cell lymphoma, an area lacking clinical guidance. Among 1,150 eligible patients, the study found significant heterogeneity in post-cBTKi treatment, with a median time to next treatment, failure, or death of 3.0 months and median overall survival of 13.2 months. These findings demonstrated substantial unmet need and supported FDA accelerated approval of pirtobrutinib for relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma.
