Expanding the HCP target list for a new drug used to treat a rare disease in children
A pharmaceutical company struggled to identify healthcare providers who would treat patients with a rare pediatric disease, hampered by diagnostic coding gaps and diverse patient symptoms that made the disease market hard to define. Using Passport Planning and Performance, it analyzed dynamic, disparate physician, patient, and payor data on patients currently in treatment to identify similar patients and their treating physicians, then applied a prioritization algorithm weighing factors like physician interactions and treatment patterns. The result was a "3x increase in the target list of HCPs" identified as high-potential treating and referring physicians for the rare disease indication, expanding reach to both direct treaters and referring providers while surfacing predictive factors for identifying future patients.
