Using RWE to differentiate TYK2 inhibitors in a crowded psoriasis market

Unnamed leading pharmaceutical manufacturerData ProvidersSymphony HealthIDV

A pharmaceutical manufacturer launching an oral allosteric TYK2 inhibitor for psoriasis needed to understand market expansion potential, free drug program dynamics, discontinuation patterns, and non-physician prescriber (NP/PA) behavior in a market crowded with biologics and orals like apremilast. Symphony Health (an ICON company) used its Integrated Dataverse (IDV®) to build a 12-month longitudinally linked psoriasis patient cohort, mapping patients to prescribers, segmenting prescriber behavior, analyzing access pathways/free drug program duration, comparing discontinuers to active patients, and profiling topical-only patients pre-escalation. Commercial-payer patients previously stabilized on topicals were the most promising target; no strong quantitative predictors of discontinuation emerged; and NPs/PAs — as primary topical prescribers positioned to escalate treatment — were identified as high-value targets, leading to a two-tier targeting strategy (primary: NP/PAs writing topicals; secondary: early-adopter dermatologists/rheumatologists).
