DXC brings Claude to the insurance backbone running billions of policies
DXC Technology operates core systems for 1,100 insurance customers managing billions of policies, where manual document processing (claims/submissions via email, fax, paper) consumed at least 40-50% of expert time in claims operations, with days-long backlogs. DXC embedded Claude across its Assure orchestration platform for document intelligence, workflow routing, purpose-built agents ("Smart Apps"), and compliance logging, routing simpler tasks to lighter model tiers and reserving frontier models for complex hundred-page claims files. Claims intake backlogs dropped from days to minutes, with documents classified in under a second, and regulatory updates that historically took 12 to 18 months are now completed in days. A workers' compensation calculation Smart App was deployed in eight hours and was 80% right on the first pass. Currently 1% of insurance decisions are autonomous, with leadership envisioning scaling to 50%.
Anthropic builds the Claude model family, including a dedicated Claude for Life Sciences push used across drug discovery, regulatory writing and clinical documentation.
This sits in the Build stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the foundation-model labs and platforms pharma teams use to actually construct, train and generate the model or application.
