Battelle decoded brain signals with MATLAB machine learning to restore hand movement in a paralysed patient.
A quadriplegic patient needed motor-cortex signals decoded in real time and turned into muscle stimulation. The team used MATLAB wavelet decomposition and support vector machines on 96-electrode recordings, driving a 130-channel stimulation sleeve within 60-70 milliseconds. The page reports the patient regained control to grip and pour from a bottle.
MathWorks makes MATLAB and Simulink, used by pharma and medical device teams for modelling, machine learning and regulated device software development
This sits in the Build stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the foundation-model labs and platforms pharma teams use to actually construct, train and generate the model or application.
