Empowering smarter healthcare decisions
Premier, which serves two-thirds of U.S. healthcare providers, struggled with fragmented data, manual processes, and limited self-service analytics; architect Jay Sharma said canned reports left users 'boxed in' without engineering help. Premier adopted Databricks' AI/BI Genie, a natural-language query interface, on top of Unity Catalog and Delta Lake. Genie was configured for production in 3 days, generated SQL 10x faster than manual coding, and reached a 100% success rate producing accurate reports in testing. Senior Director Tim Riddle said Genie 'gives users the freedom to color outside the box and deliver value to thousands of hospitals.'
Databricks is a unified data-and-AI lakehouse platform, used across pharma R&D for everything from early prototyping to production model governance via Unity Catalog.
This sits in the Design & Stress-Test stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the tools pharma teams use to scope, prototype and benchmark an AI use case before committing to build it — data-catalog, sandbox and evaluation platforms.
