Okayama University ran a five-month COPD multiomics project on Illumina Connected Analytics with DRAGEN pipelines.
The team had to analyse 50 samples each of germline WGS, tumour WES, RNA-Seq and shotgun metagenomics, with data kept in Japan. They used Illumina Connected Analytics on AWS Tokyo with DRAGEN pipelines plus a custom metagenomics pipeline. WES took about 50 minutes and WGS about 2.5 hours, the project finished on time and in budget, and follow-up funding was won.
Illumina is the leading DNA sequencing company, also offering cloud genomic analysis software and AI variant-interpretation models such as PrimateAI and SpliceAI.
This sits in the Build stage of the AI use-case lifecycle: Named examples from the foundation-model labs and platforms pharma teams use to actually construct, train and generate the model or application.
